Support
Something not right?
Office Shrimp is made by one person, and that person reads every message. Write to hello@dejansobota.com and say which iPhone and which iOS version you are on. You will usually hear back within two working days.
Subscriptions and purchases
Restore Purchases is at the top of the subscription screen. To change or cancel a plan, open Settings → Subscription → Manage subscription in the app, or the Subscriptions page in iOS Settings under your name. Payment, cancellation and refunds are Apple's; ask for a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
What the app needs
- An iPhone running iOS 18 or later. There is no iPad or Mac version.
- No account. There is nothing to sign up for or sign in to.
- Three permissions, each optional: Notifications for the reminders themselves, Motion & Fitness so the phone can notice you walked, and Apple Health so walks recorded by an Apple Watch count when the phone stayed on the desk.
- An Apple Watch is optional. With one, reminders reach your wrist and walks without the phone still count.
Things worth checking first
A walk didn't count
The phone has to move to see you move. If it stayed on the desk, tap I moved on Today. If you wear an Apple Watch the walk usually arrives on its own, but the Watch can take up to half an hour to hand its steps to the phone, so give it time before deciding it was missed. Walks shorter than the break length set in Settings do not count, and Today says so when one came close.
No reminders at all
In iOS Settings, check that notifications for Office Shrimp are allowed and that the app is not in your Scheduled Summary. In the app, check your working hours and days: outside them it is silent on purpose. And check whether you paused it for today, which lifts by itself the next morning.
A reminder arrived while I was already up
The app can only take a reminder back when it runs, and iOS lets it run when you open it or when a walk reaches Apple Health. A walk taken with the phone in a drawer can therefore be noticed a little late. Tap I moved and the next reminder is timed from now.
Reminders don't reach my Apple Watch
iPhone hands a notification to the Watch only while the phone is locked; unlocked, it keeps it on the phone. On the phone, open the Watch app → Notifications → Mirror iPhone Alerts From, and make sure Office Shrimp is on.
Watch walks aren't counted
Open the Health app → your profile picture → Apps and Services → Office Shrimp, and make sure Steps and Stand Time are switched on. The app only ever reads those two, and never writes to Health.
The lock-screen card is missing
Check that Live Activities are allowed for Office Shrimp in iOS Settings, and that Lock screen countdown is on in the app's own Settings. The card appears at the start of your working day and goes away when it ends.
The count looks wrong
Settings → Erase history deletes every day's record and lets the app rebuild today's from the motion sensor. Your settings stay as they are. Export first if you want to keep the earlier days.
What the buttons on a reminder do
- Moving now, Fixed it or Standing now confirms it and starts the next interval.
- Snooze asks again after the snooze time set in Settings.
- Skip dismisses it. Nothing is counted and no clock moves.
Moving to a new phone
On the old phone, Settings → Export my data and save the file. On the new one, Settings → Import my data. History is merged, never overwritten, so importing the same file twice changes nothing. Permissions have to be granted again on the new phone.
Reporting a problem
Include what you expected, what happened, and roughly when. If a reminder arrived at an odd time, the time is the most useful thing you can send. Screenshots of Today and of Settings help more than descriptions of them. Nothing you send is collected by the app; see the privacy policy for what it does and does not keep.
